Job Description - The Driver's Role and Responsibilities

Our drivers are compassionate, caring, reliable and responsible individuals charged with getting clients with mobility challenges to their destinations safely and on time. A successful candidate for this position will be a great communicator, enthusiastic about the opportunity, and have experience in customer service.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care
  • Must demonstrate a compassionate attitude towards all customers and family members
  • Communicate proficiently and effectively with hospital staff and co-workers
  • Responsible for cleaning and operating ambulette equipment
  • Present themselves in a professional, courteous, and punctual way
  • Assist clients as they get into and out of the vehicle
  • Report back to the supervisor when clients have been dropped off at their destination
  • Report traffic delays, incidents, or accidents to the supervisor
  • Operate wheelchair lifts as needed
  • Adhere to company policies and protocol

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Must have current driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must maintanin current licensure in CPR and First Aid
  • Must be at least 23 years of age to drive
  • Must have a clean driving record with no points
  • Must be able to think "out of the box" and adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Must have a great work history with a track record of being a reliable responsible individual
  • Must provide references from previous employers

Preferred Skills:

  • Know how to keep a level head in a busy environment
  • Must be passionate about helping people
  • Great communication skills
  • A good working knowledge of the tri-county area is a plus
